Previously Asked RCM Questions:

What is the difference between Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM)?

RCM is a systematic methodology aimed at identifying all of the functions and functional failures of an asset. The RCM process then selects the most appropriate asset management policy on the basis of the data acquired.

RBM, on the other hand, describes the integration and weighing of financial benefits of different maintenance techniques (ex. Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance).

Basically, RCM is an element of an RBM operating plan or analysis.
